NBU Research Conference
Teachers and students of the Finance Department visited the Annual Research Conference of the National Bank of Ukraine "Transformation of Central Banking". Speakers at the conference include representatives from the world's central banks, international financial institutions, leading scholars and experts.
The keynote lecture was "Trilemmas and tradeoffs: Living with financial globalization" by Maurice Obstfeld (International Monetary Fund). The sections were focused on such important issues for the Central banks as price setting, monetary policy rules, macroprudential policy and financial frictions, capital flows management, institutional building of the modern central bank, monetary transmission mechanism, challenges for inflation targeting, labor market and business cycles.
Oleksandr Faryna, lecturer and graduate of the Finance Department presented the research "Exchange rate pass-through and cross-country spillovers: Some evidence from Ukraine and Russia". In general the conference included 15 hours of speeches, five research sections, and three panel discussions, which allowed for the experience sharing, finding and answering the main questions and threads that National Bank of Ukraine faces.
