NBU Seminar

Teachers of the Finance department participated at the seminar "Practical aspects of the NBU monetary policy formulation and realization".  

Holding of such seminars for teachers of universities by NBU is good practice of the modern knowledge and approaches dissemination, which promotes a better understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of the monetary policy and contributes to the higher level of monetary policy teaching. Thank the National Bank of Ukraine for the opportunity to participate in such events.

Сongratulations to prof. Ivakhnenkov

Doctor of economic sciences and professor of the Finance Department Sergiy Ivakhnenkov was awarded by the Ministry of Education for many years of hard work, personal contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists and fruitful scientific activity.

"Beer Game"

 In scopes of "Application of System Dynamics Methods in Finance" (PhD Oleksandr Faryna) course for the 4 year students the interactive "Beer Game" was performed. The game was developed by the group of Massachusetts Institute of Technology professors in early 60th to demonstrate the core principles of the supply chain management.

NaUKMA students start semester in UPEC

Department Graduate's Scientific Achievements

{gallery cols=1}/2016_NBU/Meleshchuk{/gallery} Professors and students of the Finance Department participated in an open research seminar of the National Bank of Ukraine, during which our graduate and current PhD student at the University of California, Berkeley, Sergii Meleshchuk presented the results of the study "The Intensive Margin in Trade: Moving Beyond Pareto ".

David Wheat's Lecture

 New year for the finance master students started by the lecture of David Wheat, graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School and professor at the University of Bergen. David Wheat teaches a unique course "Advanced System Dynamics Methods in Finance". System dynamics allows students to extend their knowledge of research methodology and increase professional level. Moreover, in scopes of the cooperation between Finance Department and System Dynamics Group in University of Bergen finance students have been participating in international mobility program during several years.

New students in Bergen

 The upcoming academic year has started in unusual conditions for a group of students from NaUKMA. Bachelors, magisters, PhDs and teaching staff were invited to study in Norway. The project is oriented on learning system dynamics methods in modeling economic processes. The first phase was initiated in 2012 and due to its successful accomplishment, the project was prolonged having new aims and opportunities. For the period 2016-2019 the goals of cooperation are to train 45 experts in SD, involvement of other Ukrainian institutions (Ivan Franko National University of Lviv), the establishment of a second online course and cooperation with Ukrainian middle schools. In order to achieve the set horizons, the number of participants was increased and the finance coverage was guaranteed by the Norwegian government. This year’s participants share their impressions after the first studying week.

Finance Department licensed Ph.D. program

In June 2016, Finance Department of NaUKMA was successfully licensed to perform educational activities on the third level of education and gained a right to hold a Ph.D. program in finance.

Candidate thesis defence

On May 30, 2016, Oleksandr Faryna has defended the thesis “Dynamic Models of the Financial System Stability in Ukraine”.

Specialized Scientific Council Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko awarded Oleksandr Faryna a degree in economics (candidate of economic sciences).

Project of the Finance Department presented on the International Conference

PhD student of the Finance Department Pervin Dadashova together with colleaques David Wheat (University of Bergen, Norway) and Kateryna Ganina (Irpin Specialized School No.2, Ukraine) presented research and study project at the International "Systems Thinking & Dynamic Modeling Conference for K-12 Education" in the USA

NBU Lecture

Guest lectures from the leading experts from national and foreign organizations became a great tradition of the Finance Department. In scopes of the Finance Department's cooperation with the National Bank of Ukraine the head of the External Sector Analysis Department Taras Tokarchuk held a lecture and told students about the monetary policy features in Ukraine, preconditions and challenges for the inflation targeting. Such a meetings are very important for students as they improve their practical knowledge, expand horizons and help to find a place for the future career or internship. 

Conference materials are published

 On 23 May, the Finance Department welcomed students and PhD who took part in the International Conference "Economic Development under the Macroeconomic Instability: world and Ukrainian practice". The conference materials were published so each young researcher can share his or her findings with collegues. Finance Department congratulates all participants and wishes them further achievements in scientific career.   

NBU Research Conference

Teachers and students of the Finance Department visited the Annual Research Conference of the National Bank of Ukraine "Transformation of Central Banking". Speakers at the conference include representatives from the world's central banks, international financial institutions, leading scholars and experts.

Professor Boris Najman's visit

Previous week the head of the International Economics Master program in the University of Paris-Est Boris Najman visited NaUKMA.

Boris made two guest lectures "International Migrations: what is the rationality" and "Informal economy in Ukraine/ Transition", and told students about the opportunities to study in Paris.
